RealView Compilation Tools for BREW
Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW)
The BREW platform allows developers to create applications that operate on all handsets with QUALCOMM CDMA chipsets.
BREW sits between the chip system software and the application, making the phone's functionality available to the application without requiring the developer to have the chip system source code or even a direct relationship with a device manufacturer.
RVCT for BREW
ARM have released RVCT for BREW to allow developers to target the Brew environment. Once you have installed the BREW Software Development Kit (available from www.qualcomm.com), you can use RVCT to build C and C++ software. The applications you produce will then run on all BREW-enabled ARM platforms.
Contents of the kit include:
- C and C++ compilers (version 1.2)
- Linker
- Libraries for ARM and Thumb instruction sets
- File conversion utilities
- Online documentation
RVCT for Brew is only available for Windows, and only with a node-locked license. If you require a floating license or support for Unix, you can instead purchase the full RVDS toolkit.
